THE CHICAGO AREA PRIORITY ACCESS PROJECT

The CAPA Project at Working For Togetherness offers education, support, and innovative HIV prevention services specifically to young African-American men. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of young men of color who have sex with men by providing responsive and supportive programming to empower them to take control of their health and by providing wrap-around support to youth living with HIV.

At the heart of our Continuum of Care Model is the Youth Empowerment Center. The Center operates an integrated client maintenance and retention program we developed with our medical partners. The goals of the Center are to increase youth self-efficacy to enter into culturally- and developmentally-appropriate HIV primary care and to facilitate the effective utilization of heath resources in the treatment and management of HIV.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT CENTER

The Youth Empowerment Center was founded in October 2005 as an integral component of the CAPA project. The Center provides a safe and welcoming environment to support to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and “down low” youth of color living with, or at risk of contracting, HIV.
