People Perish For Lack of Knowledge
To address the burgeoning crises of new HIV infections among African-Americans, unsafe IDU needle sharing, and lack of effective education on HIV/AIDS, In 1999 Clifford Armstead founded Working For Togetherness. A minority controlled and collaborative-based, not-for-profit organization committed to the fight against HIV/AIDS and other health disparities that plague the African-American community. Since its inception, WFT has been a dominate force in HIV mobile testing services in the City of Chicago and metropolitan surrounding suburban areas.
Organizational Philosophy
Our philosophy: People Perish for Lack of Knowledge. The HIV/AIDS virus poses a threat to the overall health and well being of individuals in our communities. Our objective is to adequately address this threat through risk reduction activities geared towards minimizing and eliminating the risk of individuals transmitting this virus in our communities. We creatively encourage individuals to gain empowerment through acquiring knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS as well as other health disparities that plague the African-American community.
Mission
Our mission is to collaborate and establish partnerships with other social service organizations to improve the quality and availability of services for underserved populations through an integrated network of social service resources.
